Our Free Housing Counseling Services Include:
Pre-Purchase Counseling
Clients receive one-on-one counseling, which covers the entire home buying process from beginning to end. Counselors assist clients with creating a sustainable budget/spending plan for their current household situation, and a clear action plan is developed to achieve the overall goal of homeownership. Clients also receive important material on home inspections.
Non-Delinquency Post
Purchase Counseling
Clients receive one-on-one counseling covering home maintenance and financial management including budgeting, refinancing, home equity, home improvement, energy efficiency, and rights and responsibilities of homeowners. Counselors will assist clients to gain access to loans and grant options through the agency and/or other community resources.
Mortgage Delinquency and Default Resolution Counseling
Clients struggling with mortgage payments receive one-on-one counseling to review retention strategies and other loss mitigation options. Counselors will explain the consequences of default and foreclosure and receive assistance with financial management/budgeting to ensure homeownership retention.
Rental Counseling
Clients receive one-on-one counseling to transition away from homelessness, securing affordable rental housing, and alternative housing options. Counselors educating clients on becoming a successful tenant. Providing an understanding of topics such as execution and termination of a lease agreement, the maintenance responsibilities of tenants and landlords, renters insurance, and steps to resolve disputes between landlords and tenants.
